and high quality. Nicole Leach, West Catholic, was alone

- Colgate
Women's Games Week #1 @ Pratt Institute, NYC - Tiffany Abney
has won eight state championships in three years of high school.
And her training this year is geared to make her senior year something
special. But the one thing track teaches is that there's always
someone else coming along who can give you a good run. She's a Philly
girl. Not surprising. But she's just a 7th grader. Clarenchell Tate
of Imani Charter School in Philadelphia hit the track week #1 of
the Colgate Women's Games and came away matching the hand-time of
Abney in the High School 200, 25.4. But more impressively,
she doubled in the 55 Dash, setting a new Middle School meet record
of 6.9. By the way, Abney won her 200 after missing the 400
because of heavy Jersey traffic. Results

Saturday,

The winner was a new US record from Shana Cox (Holy Trinity,NY),
in 37.59 (Prev. 37.77, Natasha Hastings, Randolph,NY, 2002).
Smith pushed Hastings until the last lap in the 600 meters,
but faded to 6th in 1:36.67. Smith also ran the 55 H, getting
4th in 8.66. But William Penn's 4x200 (Christina Smith
26.0, Knishea Sheard 26.9, Shantia Byrd 27.4, Juanita
Broaddus 24.4) took the top spot in 1:44.72, with anchor
Broaddus coming from 3rd after a teammate stumbled into the
railing on the second exchange and lost the lead. The Girls' High
4x400 relay of Rachel Johnson, Venessa Powell, Ashley
Morris and Garnder was 5th in 4:08.25. Johnson
also ran the 1000 meters, getting 7th in 3:10.58. PA
