Thanks
to Scranton Prep for providing a photo of their repeat champions
in Boys AA. We somehow missed them at the awards, and didn't want
to leave them out. Congrats on two in a row - PennTrackXC
AA Boys race photos, plus interview with repeat champion Andy
Weilacher of Eisenhower.
Weilacher left nothing to chance,
taking it out hard, with only Blood, and Scranton Prep's Jonathan
Pastore close.
Weilacher had control of the
race well before the mile, and by 1.2 had opened a comfortable
lead.
East Pennsboro's Ryan Blood had
tried to respond, but was still able to gap the rest of the field.
Weiacher pushes the pace in the
second mile.
The pack had closed on Blood by 1.5 miles.
And finishes strong.
Towanda's Tyler Spencer passes
Eisenhower's #2 guy, Matthew Allenson, at the finish. The two
finished 3-4, respectively.

Eisenhower, AA Boys Champion
On his race plan and how it rolled out:
"We had a tentative plan to go out hard. All year I've been
going out in around 4:40, then going hard the second mile, and
cruising the last one. The first mile was normal, but the second
mile was all hills so going through two miles was a little slower
than I anticipated. The last mile was easy. I didn't feel in control
the whole way, because around some of the sharp turns I looked
back and could see guys. I was more worried about the last 800
meters on the flat course because I didn't know about anybody's
kick. I'm not too confident in mine."
On the pressure of repeating:
"Coming into it, I was a lot more nervous than last year
with everybody expecting me to win. But having my entire team
here was outstanding - a lot more fun than with just one or two
other guys. It took a lot of the pressure off me just keeping
the other guys from getting nervous."
