Heard Around the Track
October

Baldwin
star and Footlocker Finalist Julia Pudlin today announced she
has applied for early admission to Yale University.
PA's top distance runner during the 2000-2001 campaign,
Julia Pudlin of the Baldwin School, will compete on the track,
on the course, and in the classroom at Yale University beginning
next fall. After a year that included an 8th place finish at Footlockers
and medals at the Penn Relays and Arcadia meets, Julia was injured
in mid-May. She subsequently required surgury, and spent the summer
and early fall in rehab and cross-training. Her training on the
roads resumed weeks ago, but her first race of 2001 has not yet
been announced.
Julia had
trimmed her list to Stanford, Duke, Princeton and Yale, before
narrowing it recently to the latter two.
In addition
to its strong academics (Julia nearly aced the SAT's), Yale has
a strong Division 1 distance program, finishing sixth at NCAA's
in 2000 with two All American performances. As a young team, Julia
is excited to be entering a winning program.
