Southeastern PA Coaches' Poll #1
Look who's on top in boys and girls cross country in the
first Southeastern PA Coaches' poll. That's right, Council Rock. Both took
their home invitational this past week, with the boys 20 better than CB
East, and the girls easily defeating 2nd place Neshaminy. The girls, in
fact, are ranked #5 in the Northeast U.S. following their win in the Championship
race at the Briarwood Invitational at Belmont Plateau 9/15 over both Cardinal
O'Hara and North Penn, the #2 and #3 teams in this week's poll. They took
Cardinal O'Hara by just three points, and North Penn by 19. Briarwood was
Council Rock girls' third consecutive team win. They took the Cliff Robbins
Memorial Sept 1, then the CB East Invitational on 9/8. The boys took the
Centaur Invitational at DeSales University on 9/8, then captured the Briarwood
race on 9/15 over NJ's Hunterdon Central. Coatesville has been running
strong all year, as well as O'Hara, who just seems to keep that front-running
pack coming, as demonstrated in their strong second place showing Saturday
at the Bulldog Invitational, just seven points behind Salesianum, DE.
