October 12, 2002 - US#9 Thomas
Jefferson High School, Alexandria, Virginia, made the trip to the
William Tennent Invitational because they had no place to race in
their home state. Held in the grip of fear generated by an unknown
sniper who had attacked ten times in ten days, area activities had
been cancelled. They searched, and found a welcoming meet in PA. The
story
from three parents who made the a short trip that seemed like lightyears
from home.
October 5, 2002 -
Council Rock-North (NE US#9) nearly beat favored West Chester
Henderson (US #25, NE#6) at the Steel City Invitational by placing
five runners 13-21. See the race within the race, and the finishes

***STATE COURSE & TIMING NEWS***
|
And
then there was one. The PIAA has released a map of the REVISED
& OFFICIAL course for States. It's not the one the coaches
helped to design earlier this season, but it looks like an improvement.
Download our PDF that has
both the original, somewhat controversial course, and the one proposed
by the PA coaches. Other big news is on the timing. The PIAA will use
the ChampionChip technology (computer chips attached to athletes' shoes)
for the first time in a state meet. The official 2002 PIAA rules are
in this large PDF,
or read about the technology itself at the timing company's site.
