Tiffany Abney, Merion Mercy, missed the first Colgate 400 because
of traffic. She steered clear of trouble the rest of the series and
won every 400 along the way, capping it with a championship at Madison
Square Garden. She won in a faster time in 2002. PA's other champion
was LaVaughn Jones, WCCS in Philadelphia, who took first in
the Middle School 1500 in 4:50.09. In other other school finals, Abney's
Merion Mercy teammate Kimarra McDonald was 2nd in the 800 in
2:18.45. Hershey's Angie Saterstad (right,
with her trophy @ Madison Square Garden) was 2nd in the 1500
in 4:46.80. Runner-ups in the Middle School finals included Ashley
Ligon, St. Cyprion, Yeadon in the 400 in 61.73; Kameesha Worthington,
Tilden Middle School, in the 800 inn 2:20.09; and Saqenda Dallas,
Imani Charter, Philadelphia, in the MS 200 in 26.80.
