57th Jesuit Cross Country Championships @ Van Cortlandt Park,
NYC
2.5 miles
Led by Tim O'Neill's 13:35, St. Joseph's Prep took the 57th Jesuit
XC Championships in Van Cortlandt Park in NYC with just 39 points
going 1-6-9-11-12. Gonzaga from Washington DC, was second. O'Neill
was alone as he exited the woods at the storied layout, and cruised
to his title. Stephen Prybella did not run because of leg problems.
O'Neill had quite a sophomore season, taking the Bulldog Invitational
in September, and getting 2nd at the Philadelphia Catholic League
Championships Nov. 12.
St. Joseph's results courtesty of Curtis Cockenberg, Head Coach,
who noted that Steve Walsh of
Penn State (who finished 3rd in IC4A'S) congratulated Tim O'Neill,
whobroke Steve's record on Belmont Plateau at the Prep (set in
1996). It was a nice moment.
