Amy Kelly of St. Hubert's, a sophomore, becomes
the sixth girl ever to break 19:00 on the
fabled Belmont Plateau course in Philly 10/27 in the Ryan
Invitational. The others were fellow sophomore Jessica Cickay,
Council Rock, who ran the first sub-18:30 5K at Belmont during
the Briarwood Invitational this season. Her time of 18:26.21 surpassed
the likes of Donna Fidler, the Norristown star who was the first
sub-19:00 at 18:56. And St. Hubert's star Jackie Kelly (Amy's
older sister who is currently injured), went 18:51 at last year's
Ryan Invitational. The list also includes Footlocker Finalists
Sheila Klick, Prendie (now at LaSalle), and Julia Pudlin, Baldwin
School (returning from injury). Pudlin, a senior, set the record
last year at the Briarwood Invitational with an 18:31.7. Amy's
effort led her team to a second place finish behind Cardinal O'Hara,
who placed three in the top five, led by Danielle Schopf's 19:26
2nd place finish. In the boys race, Cardinal O'Hara dominated,
tallying just 27 points with a one-two-three finish of Steve Hallinan
in 16:19, Joe Francisco in 16:24, and T.J. Coll in 16:35.
