It wasn't more than 600 meters before Hershey's
Angie Saterstad established her plan. Renee Spangler of Manheim
Township stayed with the lead group and helped her team get the
last AAA spot in States.
Saterstad closes in on her first District
3 championship.
Cedar Cliff's Patrick Philbin is joined by
teammates John Butler and Andy Brehm just past the mile. That's
Mark Turner of CV - the eventual champion, 15 meters back.
Half a mile later, it's Turner, Butler and
Philbin. Red Land's Chris Robson would fight his way back to get
3rd.
Cumberland Valley's Mark Turner won the district
title on the site of the coming state meet in a very strong 16:24.
Cedar Cliff was led by Patrick Philbin in
2nd in 16:33.
Amy and Debbie Huss of defending AA State Champs
Wyomissing don't wait for the competition.
Amy Huss kept the District championship in
the family, winning in 19:42 (Twin Debbie won it in 2000).
Desiree Bower of Tulpehocken, and Adriene
Beltz of Hamburg, were 3-4 at the 1.5 mark, and moved up to 2-3.
Boiling Springs' Kylee Millhouse is a soph
with a bright future. She was 5th in the District.
Ashley Iwanowski, a Wyomissing sophomore,
finished second for the team in 6th.
Rick Blood of East Pennsboro, cruised to the
AA win in 16:34, defending his championship.
