Day One

Run in the morning (to avoid the darkness of last year's race), the high
school boys 4 x 800, Archbishop Ryan (Matt Catinella, Todd Colistro,
Kevin Fong, Dana Muller) held off Cardinal O'Hara, setting a school
record with a 7:56.36. O'Hara ran 8:01.30. In the girls 4 x 800,
Nazareth was third overall in 9:40.56 behind the anchor leg of Maureen
McCandless. Cardinal O'Hara was fourth less than five seconds back. Bay
Shore took the win with a 9:31.60.
Villa Maria's Kim Malcolm competing in the Day One Girls' 3000. She
finished 3rd in 10:29.11.
In the girls 3000, the best PA showing came from Villa Maria's Kim
Malcolm, who led briefly before finishing 3rd in 10:29.11. Passaic
Valley's Jess Mizzone took the race in 10:14.20. Coatesville's Kelly
O'Connell was 5th in 10:46.99. In the boys race, Great Valley's Bill
Patchak provided the best PA showing with a 7th place 9:08.07. Frewsburg
Central's Trevor Cable took first in 8:46.67.
Former Penncrest high jumper Ivan Schmidt, now attending Brandwine in
Delaware, took his event with a leap of 6-8. West Chster east's Seth
keller was 3th with a 6-2 jump.
In the boys Pole Vault, Brian Walls of State College was 5th, clearing
12-6. The winning height was 14-6. Anne Bobiak, Villa Maria, was sixth
in the Discus with a throw of 100-11.00, about 21' behind winner Lindsay
Neuberger of FW Cox. In the boys Shot Put, Father Judge's Mike Schmied
was 7th with a throw of 43-08.50. In the girls Shot Put, Villa Maria's
Kathleen Donovan (32-07.25), was 5th, Nazareth Academy's Sarah Davidson
(32-06.75) was 6th, and Great Valley's Danielle Jolly (32-05.00) was
7th.
In the girls Pole Vault, Dana Gioria, State College, was the top PA
finisher with a vault of 10-0. The event was won by Centreville's Alicia
Laroch, with her 10-6 jump.

Day Two
800 leg Tim Curren split 2:00.41 to help O'Hara to a first place win in
the DMR.
Cardinal O'Hara went wire-to-wire thanks to a lead-off 3:07.63 from Rich
Anderson, as they ran a strong 10:21.00 to take the DMR. Bob Brown ran
the 400 leg in 50.98, Tim Curren, the 800 in 2:00.41, and Sean Duffy,
the anchor mile in 4:21.98. Kim Malcolm, brought Villa Maria back from
way back on the mile leg of the girls DMR, overtaking Prendie's Sarah
McFadden. Villa Maria ran 12:27.18. Prendie ran 12:33.94. O'Hara was 3rd
with a 12:41.36.
Ninth grader Heather Iatauro took off at the bell, and won the mile in
5:12.70, beating Nazareth Academy's Maureen McCandless by six seconds.
In the mile, Nazareth Academy's Maureen McCandless (5:18.87) battled for
three laps in the wind, but gave final lap ground to eventual winner
Heather Iatauro, a 9th grader from Tri-Valley, who went 5:12.70. For the
boys, West Chester East's Justin Woodruff was 3rd behind double winner
(3000/mile) Trevor Cable, of Frewsburg Central (4:25.26). Woodruff ran
4:31.89.
Coatesville took the boys 4 x 400 in 3:24.46, and 2nd in the boys 4 x
100 with a 43.51. In the girls 4 x 100, O'Hara was 3rd (49.57) behind
winner Woodrow Wilson (NJ), 48.54. In the girls 4 x 400, Great Valley
was PA's best, getting 4th with their 4:06.14. Mt. Vernon took the top
spot with a 3:57.94.
Ryan's Corrine Mansfield was 3rd in the girls' Triple Jump with a leap
of 34-11.75. Shauna Williams, Mt. Vernon (NY) won with her 36-06.75. In
the boys' Triple Jump, the top PA athlete was Great Valley's Galen
Rivers, who went 42-05.50 for 4th place. Jason Ramsey, Mt. Vernon, took
first with a leap of 44-07.50.
Kyle Obrock, State College, topped other PA performers with a Discus
throw of 136-03.00. Aaron Mitchell, Sweethome (NY), took first
with his 148-00.00.
